In general, a DOMAIN is HOSTED. These two very different components are an integral part of showing your website to the public. A DOMAIN or Domain Name is the primary name given to the space allocated on the server that hosts your site.

You can add SUB-DOMAINS by using a prefix. Sub-domains can contain seperate parts of your main site, or sections independant of your main content. (Eg. shop.domain.com is the Online Shop for domain.com)

• Renew your domain registration every year!
• Domains vary in price and application
• Select an appropriate domain extention (.com.au is choice #1 for Australia)

Hosting

To view a website it must be "hosted" on a server. Hosting packages vary depending mainly on applications and traffic.

Domain Names (Australia)

• All Australian domain names end in .au
• Select .com.au or .net.au for Australian commercial business websites 
• Select .org.au for Australian organisations, clubs etc 
• These services can be provided

Domain Names (International)

• Use if you do not require an Australian domain name or your website has international interest 
• Register all other domain names with GoDaddy.com
• These services can be provided

Regional and Country Specific

• Select domain names that are specific to a country or region
• Example - Use .co.nz for New Zealand
• These services can be provided
